As a Birmingham Institute for Sustainability and Climate Action (BISCA) Associate, Nature Positive is pleased to be co-hosting this round table event which will help organisations across the Midlands to strengthen their sustainability strategies, find solutions to shared challenges, and turn ambition into practical action. The session has been created with accessibility in mind, particularly for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) that often face tight resources but carry significant opportunities for positive impact.

Making Sustainability Work: Practical Strategies for Businesses will take place on 11 May , 08:30 – 11:00 am at The Exchange in Birmingham. The morning will offer an engaging mix of practical discussion and peer learning. It will start with a short-scene setting presentation that outlines the rapidly developing landscape of sustainability, touching on the rising expectations around climate action, nature-related risk, and social responsibility. The focus will be on what this means for day-to-day business decisions and long-term planning, especially for organisations seeking clear and achievable next steps.

Participants will then join facilitated roundtable conversations providing space for businesses of all sizes to share challenges, exchange practical tips, and explore solutions that work in real operational environments. SMEs in particular will have the chance to learn from peers who understand the realities of limited capacity and competing priorities. The aim is to support progress through collaboration rather than placing additional pressure on individual organisations.

Attendees will also benefit from dedicated networking time. This offers the chance to make new connections, identify partnership opportunities, and gain insight into what others across the region are doing to build resilience and deliver positive environmental and social impact. By bringing together people working in different sectors and at different stages of their sustainability journey, BISCA and Nature Positive aim to foster an inclusive community committed to practical and achievable improvement.

Key benefits of attending include:

  • Clear and up to date insight into sustainability expectations affecting UK businesses
  • Practical strategies for embedding climate, nature, and social considerations into operations and supply chains
  • Peer learning tailored to the needs of Midlands organisations and SMEs
  • Facilitated discussions that help turn challenges into actionable next steps
  • Opportunities to build supportive networks for ongoing collaboration
